Istanbul Kent University Turkish and Foreign Language Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMERKENT) was established following the decision published in the Official Gazette dated 12.04.2021 and numbered 31452.
Enriching the teaching of Turkish and foreign languages with advanced technological developments over the twenty-first century, TÖMERKENT has adopted the principle of preparing its students with a high level of perception, not only for academic competence, but also for daily life practices where different ways of living and thinking intersect, by incorporating the unifying power of cultural encounters from the past to the future.
Language teaching at TÖMERKENT is planned and implemented by well-equipped, competent and dynamic staff. TÖMERKENT offers its students the opportunity to learn languages in classrooms equipped with technological opportunities and in accordance with the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, in Taksim, located in the very heart of the city, with the most suitable language training sets and original materials created in-house. The education and training programs prepared by the academic staff of TÖMERKENT by uniting around the same principle, in accordance with international language teaching methods and always open to innovation, are the living, changing and developing aspect of each language; on the other hand, it adopts its history, which constantly builds written and oral culture, as a two-sided founding value. Reinforcing this value with the mission and vision adopted by Istanbul Kent University and supporting it with many different disciplines from literature to history, from sociology to psychology, from philosophy to philology, transforms TÖMERKENT into a versatile school where language teaching intersects with academic studies, cultural and artistic activities and daily communication tools. Thus, for students whose mother tongue is Turkish or those who learn Turkish as a second language who intend to live, study or work in Turkey, will be given a broader and more inclusive perspective that they can carry on throughout their lives.
TÖMERKENT, operating in the Taksim campus of Istanbul Kent University, teaches all the languages it incorporates with the vitality of Beyoğlu, which opens the door to Istanbul's ancient history and multicultural structure with every street, is preparing a future that adds value to language learning with its new and strong staff, taking into account the needs of business, education and social life.
