A New Phase in Packaging with PPWR

The European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) has been generally applicable since 12 August 2026. It introduces a common framework designed to reduce packaging waste, improve resource efficiency and encourage the wider use of recyclable and reusable packaging across Europe.

For transport and storage operations, this change brings a clear priority: packaging should remain useful beyond a single journey. Durable solutions that can circulate through repeated logistics cycles are becoming increasingly important for businesses seeking to reduce waste and use resources more efficiently.

At Hi-Paş Plastik, our plastic pallets, R-KLT crates, foldable crates and large-volume containers are developed with long service life and repeated use in mind. Their durable construction supports demanding transport and storage operations, while their standardized designs help businesses manage handling, stacking and warehouse processes more efficiently.

Our foldable crates also offer a practical advantage in return logistics. When empty, they can reduce occupied volume by up to 80%. This allows businesses to use warehouse and vehicle capacity more effectively and can help reduce the environmental impact associated with empty return journeys.

Preparing for PPWR, however, involves more than choosing a durable product. Packaging also needs to be supported by suitable collection, return, tracking and reuse processes. Product selection and logistics planning must therefore be considered together.

Guided by smart design, durable materials, reuse and recycling, Hi-Paş continues to develop transport packaging solutions for a more circular logistics model. As packaging standards evolve, we support our customers in building operations that are longer-lasting, more efficient and better prepared for the future of reusable packaging.
